eSATA - Stands for External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment and is the external Version of SATA (used to connect internal PC Components). The advantage of using eSATA is that it is capable of transferring speed three times faster than FireWire and USB 2.0. Unlike Firewire or USB eSATA does not translate Data thus allowing higher Speed Data Transfer. One drawback to using eSATA Connections is that it requires a separate Power Connection unlike USB or Firewire, However it's considered a perfect choice for External Disc Drives.
