This USB C to VGA adapter is a USB Hub with a VGA Output, this enables you to connect an external VGA monitor. The USB 3.0 (USB A) port can be used to connect an additional device to the host computer, You can even connect another hub to this adapter.
***If you are using this Hub for VGA output from a smartphone / Tablet then please check your device specs to ensure DP Alt-Mode is supported via the USB C port
The USB C port can charge the host computer and supply power for the adapter simultaneously. USB C Port - if you have a laptop which only has one USB C port and it uses this port for charging then you can still charge it whilst using the adapter plugged into the USB C port on the laptop, Chromebook, macbook etc.
*Please note the USB C port on the Hub is used for charging the source device and will not transfer data
